Our Free Consultation: The First Step in Helping You
What to Expect in an Initial Consultation
For many of our clients who have been injured due to an accident or medical malpractice, this is their first exposure to the legal system. Allow us to take a moment to let you know what to expect when you contact Peters Berger Koshel & Goldberg, P.C., your Brooklyn personal injury lawyers, for help.
Do I Have a Case?
The answer is not always as easy to answer as one might think. When you contact Peters Berger Koshel & Goldberg, P.C., we will take information about your case by phone. If it sounds as though we can help you, we will arrange a meeting between you and our lawyers. That meeting will either be at our office, at the hospital, or at your home.
During this meeting, we will ask you to provide us as much information as you can about the facts of your case; if you have any records or other documents relating to your accident, medical treatment or injuries, we will want to make copies. You will also have an opportunity to ask us about the civil justice system in New York and how a personal injury lawsuit works.
We examine each case carefully. One of the keys to determining whether you have a case is whether your personal injury was caused by someone else. Sometimes an accident is no one’s fault and no recovery is possible.
What Will it Cost?
Peters Berger Koshel & Goldberg, P.C. will advance all costs of investigating and developing your case. We will invest our time, not knowing what the outcome will be. Our fee, if we are successful, will be a percentage of the recovery after the case expenses are deducted. We will keep track of the expenses we pay up front, such as court filing costs, collection of medical records, and expert witness fees, and those expenses will deducted from any compensation we recover for you.
YOU ARE NEVER RESPONSIBLE TO PAY AN ATTORNEY FEE UNLESS WE ARE ABLE TO RECOVER MONEY ON YOUR BEHALF!
What Kind of Help Can I Get?
Every case is different. Obviously, our first task is to determine who caused your injuries, and take all steps necessary to insure that they are held responsible. In addition, we will help you obtain all benefits, medical and otherwise, to which you may be entitled. We will evaluate your medical needs and life-care planning needs and project those costs over a lifetime. If you can return to work, we will determine what training or vocational rehabilitation you will need. If you can’t return to the workplace, we will seek to replace that income.
At Peters Berger Koshel & Goldberg, P.C., our mission is to help people who need help. We have been doing it for decades, and have a track record for obtaining compensation for people who need it the most.
