No matter the cause, brain injuries are scary due to their complex character. Further, these types of injuries occur from a vast variety of accidents and frequently lead to devastating and catastrophic results that can leave victims unable to enjoy day-to-day activities. They can also lead to significant medical bills and missed time at work. Frequently, patients who suffer brain injuries are unaware because the symptoms are not always apparent, and can often appear very minor in scope (often a minor headache). Nevertheless, the effects can be lasting and life-changing. If you or someone you love has suffered head trauma, you should immediately contact the experienced Brooklyn brain injury lawyers at Peters, Berger, Koshel & Goldberg, P.C. for a free consultation to help you evaluate your case.

Young Boys Suffer Serious Injuries Including Head Trauma in Bounce House Accident

Last month, two upstate New York boys were hospitalized (one with a serious head injury) when the inflatable bounce house they were playing in was swept up by a gust of wind and flew high in the air. Little Tikes, the manufacturer of the bounce house, claimed it was investigating the matter.

One of the boys (a 5-year-old) hit his head on a parked car when he fell from the bounce house into an apartment parking lot. The boy was immediately rushed to the hospital and placed in a medically induced coma, according to the police.

Witnesses reported that the bounce house flew at least 50 feet in the air, and the two boys landed about 75 feet apart. The man who set up the bounce house stated that he had used six-inch spikes to secure the bounce house to the ground. Undoubtedly, this freak accident was traumatic for all involved and should have been prevented.

Speak to Trusted New York Personal Injury Lawyers

While a windswept bounce house does not occur every day, the aforementioned news does remind us that serious injuries can result even in unexpected circumstances. When they do happen you can be sure that the party at fault will attempt to avoid compensating you or your loved one for your injuries. Additionally, there will be a large team of lawyers representing the person or company at fault, and most likely an insurance company involved seeking to minimize compensation at every step of the proceeding. Accordingly, having an aggressive Brooklyn accident attorney on your side will ensure that someone is fighting for your rights.

Head injuries are certainly not something that can be taken lightly. Because of the risks of lifelong symptoms associated with concussions and other head trauma, it is imperative that you do not simply ignore treatment or the legal process necessary to ensure maximum compensation from those at fault. Failure to take immediate action when you are aware you have a brain injury could put you in jeopardy of allowing the legally imposed time limitation (statute of limitations) to expire. Therefore, if you or someone you love has suffered a brain injury and you believe someone else is at fault, you should immediately contact Peters, Berger, Koshel & Goldberg today at 718-596-7800 or 1-800-836-7801.
